CMLTC rose to the challenge of surpassing last year’s CiN total with a day, evening and night of fun and donations reach a total of £610 and with gift aid, this may rise to £730!
The CiN “Play your cards right!” tournament set the tone with an enthusiastic and at times, confused, set of competitors, struggling in the cold wind and juggling their outsize cards trying to wrong-foot the opposition.
Meanwhile, Paul Fowell did a sterling job selling raffle tickets and providing many of the liquid prizes – thanks Paul.
At the end of the afternoon, Bridget and Allan had played their strongest suits and took the prizes. Well done to them.
Here are the standings in the challenge tournaments after the results:-
After the competition, Lynda harangued several dozen muddy footballers into buying some of the cakes, kindly donated by our members, raising over £40 from their sale alone!
In the evening (and long into the night) and bolstered by an excellent fish & chip supper, we were sorely tried by our fiendish quiz-master Will Margetts, who took us back to school with history, geography, sports, music and movie questions that left us wishing we had some of those cocktails that he expected us to know the recipe for!
Interspersed with a quick round of bingo and the world’s longest raffle draw, plus coffee and mince pies, we headed home after 10:30pm with clanking bottles and grateful thanks to Lee, Ian, Paul Fowell and Will for feeding and entertaining us all in a good cause.
A big thank you to all who contributed to the day; either by donation, entering the competition, buying raffle tickets, baking cakes, quizzing and helping with setting up and clearing up.
To Lee, who masterminded the event – well done mate! you have done us proud again.
